Summary

This notice describes IAFCI’s online privacy practices and it applies to all who visit our websites. The notice explains how we may collect information about you online when you visit an IAFCI website and how we may protect and use that information.

Information that you provide to IAFCI when you apply for membership or register for one of our events is used primarily for business or administrative purposes.

Collecting Information

Browsing
IAFCI may collect information about you when you browse our websites or use our online services. We may collect technical information about your browser and our web pages that you visit. For example, we may collect your internet protocol address (IP address) which is a numerical identifier assigned to a computer or device that connects to the internet. We may also collect any information you volunteer to us, such as survey feedback or contact information.

Online Tracking
IAFCI may use cookies or other online tracking methods. Cookies are small files that a website’s server places on your computer. Cookies provide a means for websites that you visit to track browsing activities conducted with your computer. If your browser is configured in a “Do Not Track” manner, our websites will not use cookies or other tracking methods. IAFCI does not expressly allow third parties to use cookies or otherwise track our websites visitor’s browsing activities.

How We Use Information

On Our Sites
We may use cookies or similar tools to help us understand which parts of our site you find most useful and to optimize your browsing experience. Cookies may help us to recognize when you return to our site and may allow us to identify the path by which you returned to our site. We may use the information we collect to customize your experience on our websites and to assist us in taking data security precautions.

If you post information to an IAFCI blog, message board, or other interactive feature of our websites, there is no privacy as this is considered a public posting. By posting in this manner, you hereby accept our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

Third-Party Advertising

We may partner with third parties such as Google to monitor activity on our websites. We may monitor Web traffic, statistics, or other activities in order to improve browsing experience on our website. PII Sharing Information

We may share information that we collect online with industry partners and trusted third parties in order to add value to membership, or in an administrative fashion for the events we host. Third party service providers with whom we share identifiable information are barred from sharing this information externally except as necessary to service the function for which we have partnered with them.  

WHAT IS PII

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) as such term is used by IAFCI, is information that can be used to identify or contact a person uniquely or can be traced back to a specific individual.

PII includes (but is not limited to) the following information:

  • Mother’s maiden name
  • Driver’s license number (or other government issued identification card)
  • Financial Institution account information
  • Payment Card information
  • Relatives’ names
  • Postal address
  • E-mail address
  • Home or cellular telephone number
  • Personal characteristics and biometric information
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Date or place of birth
  • Other information that would make the individual’s personal identity easily traceable

What is not PII from an IAFCI standpoint:

PII does not include publicly available information from government records.  Additionally, since personal identity is distinct from an individual’s professional identity, the IAFCI does not consider the following information as PII. 

  • An individual’s name
  • An individual’s title
  • Work Telephone number
  • Official work location/address
  • Work email address

DISCLOSURE AND INDEMNIFICATION BY USER

IAFCI prohibits the unauthorized use and disclosure of any personally identifiable information (PII), financial information or other sensitive information, including where disclosure violates applicable law or may harm the party to which it applies if disclosed outside the proper legal channels or process. If you choose to post such information, you (on behalf of yourself and any entity you may represent) accept all risk of such use or disclosure and agree to indemnify and hold IAFCI harmless against any and all liability that may result from such actions. The web forums and industry groups are made available by the IAFCI and are intended solely for IAFCI members and Mobilize Industry Group Mailing Lists. This information may only be distributed to IAFCI members and Mobilize Industry Group Mailing List and may not be forwarded to personal email accounts or third parties outside the industry group. Further disclosure or publication is not authorized in any manner; however, dissemination is allowed within your company or agency for educational purposes or if permitted by applicable law. Please take all precautions to ensure this information is stored and/or destroyed in a manner that precludes unauthorized access, use, and disclosure.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance:

As part of the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our site may make changes to their information at any time by logging into the member website and accessing the “My Account “page.

Online Privacy Policy Only: This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our website and not to information collected offline. 

Email

If you provide your email address to us, or if we obtain it from another source, we may use it to respond to your inquiries, to contact you about membership, to provide industry updates, or to let you know about our events or training opportunities. If we send you email marketing, it will include instructions on how to opt out of receiving such emails in the future. If you elect to opt out of receiving email advertisements, we may still send you emails about your membership with us.

If you receive an email that claims to be from us but appears suspicious, do not click on any of the links in the email or any attachments. Instead, delete it. Protecting Children’s Online Privacy

IAFCI encourages protection of children’s information on the internet. We will not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13 on our website without first obtaining consent from their parents or legal guardians. Our websites may include links to third-party websites. These third parties are not subject to this notice or to the IAFCI Privacy and Opt Out Notice. Whenever you visit a third-party website, you should review its privacy notice.

Data Security

At IAFCI, we make your safety and security a top priority and we are committed to protecting your personal, professional, and financial information. If we collect identifying information from you, we will protect that information with controls based upon internationally recognized security standards, regulations, and industry-based best practices.

IAFCI and our partners maintain customer authentication procedures to protect your information and account from identity theft or takeover. These procedures are for your protection. If you suspect a website is “spoofing” or pretending to be an IAFCI website, do not enter personal information. Instead, contact us through a phone number you know is associated with your account at IAFCI.
